Hawaii Adventures of Les and Pat 2026/2025

Aloha and apologies for being silent for so long.     Hard to believe that from me!     After grandson left in the latter part of July we got back to business, getting the condo in order for us.     We had just moved in mid-June and since we were occupied with Keegan we didn’t have a lot of time to get it customized for us.     We also had a recall on the car so that took a day out of the schedule.     Hair cuts, manicures, flu shots and all the every day have to get accomplished tasks followed.     In between you can be sure we packed our lunch and our chairs and headed for the beach.  I’ll start with a rainbow and end with our evening view. In mid October we were lucky to meet some soon to be new friends, hailing from New England. They visited the island to celebrate their 25th anniversary.   Aloha, it’s us again!     WARNING:     This is a long post with lots of photos so be prepared! We welcomed our grandson, Keegan (15) to Oahu with a Kukui Nut Lei.    He took a non stop flight from Atlanta and we applaud him for being able to get through a 9 1/2 hour flight.    The flights from the mainland are long, no matter where you come from and we equate it to ripping off a bandaid, just do it and the healing (and fun) begins. We will start with an overhead map of the condo we moved to. In keeping with the Aloha spirit I tried very hard not to over schedule him.    We visited, ate, and gave him the lay of the condo unit.    He loves to walk so on go the headphones and music and off he went most days.    He took advantage of the on site gym most days before a “light” breakfast of 4 eggs, 3 slices of toast 5-6 slices of bacon and a banana.    Geez I was full just watching him devour his meals....

Aloha June and as we bid farewell to May, we recap a couple of experiences.     I had been excited, for the past 2 weeks, about the May 26th Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawai’i ceremony.     We were able to secure garage parking for 4 hours for $7 and packed some snacks and our blanket and staked out our viewing spot at Ala Moana Beach Park.     At the time we planned on going we decided to honor “Aunt” Louise LaFontaine who was quite ill in Massachusetts by placing her name and a message on one of the lanterns.     Little did we know that she would pass away the morning of the ceremony so it made it even more special for us to attend.     She was an amazing person and I encourage you to read more of her life at   https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/bostonglobe/name/louise-lafontaine-obituary?id=58509411 For those who are interested in learning more about this beautiful ceremony I am attaching the website.    I took some pho...

  Aloha from our cozy nest in Ko Olina!     We are recovering from nasty head colds over the past 3 weeks.     One thing we have learned quickly is that because Hawaii has consistently topical weather and also welcomes tourists from all over the world Hawaii also has a year round flu, virus, rsv and cold season.     So another experience we have had. Towards the end of April we attended our first (and hopefully many) event at the theater in Honolulu.    We attended a Saturday matinee of Tina Turner, The Musical and it was wonderful.    I had memories of the theater in NYC and Boston fighting traffic, jostling for a parking spot or finding a garage and long lines to gain admission.    Well this wasn’t that!    We valet parked since we were not familiar with the area (yet) and it was a stone’s throw from the entry, smooth and efficient.    Anyway I digress…I’m pretty sure we picked up something from atten...
